New ownership at a local hotel is expanding its hospitality.

The public will be welcome at the updated dining facilities at The Holiday Inn York Hotel and Conference Center.

The hotel was bought by locally-owned Altland House Hospitality Group and Gulph Creek Hotels. The Holiday Inn is located on Loucks Road behind the West Manchester Mall.

The existing restaurant will be renovated and a small construction project will allow an entrance to connect directly with the hotel lobby. The bar will also be renovated to have lobby access.

Mike Haugh, the owner of Altland House Hospitality Group said in the past, York residents were not encouraged to eat at the Holiday Inn's facilities. But he said they will be welcome once the renovations are complete and hopes the open design of the lobby will create a smooth flow for locals and hotel guests.

The restaurant will be renamed to follow Altland's "Grill & Pub" line. Haugh said the base menu will likely include items like flatbread pizzas and other lighter fare, but the chef's menu will also include a large variety of specialty platters.

Haugh said the restaurant would also feature large holiday buffet options for occasions like Mother's Day and Thanksgiving, an Althouse tradition.

Other renovations: There will also be an updated 200-seat private banquet room, Haugh said.

Additional renovations will be made to the guest rooms, a ballroom and the indoor pool area.

But Haugh said most of those changes will just be a facelift. There won't be many changes to the building itself, but visitors will see major updates in the décor and appearance of the hotel.

"There's a whole lot of base to work with," Haugh said.

He said the large banquet room and proximity to the York Expo Center give the hotel a huge potential for growth.
