Dover Area School District will hold a school performance profile information session Thursday.
The session will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of Dover Elementary School, 109 Canal St.
It is open to the public, but is designed for parents and guardians of district students.
District officials will present a general overview of the state school performance profile recently released by the state Department of Education.
The profile provides information on school performance, building-level scores and ways to analyze strengths and needs. The profile also allows the public to compare schools across the state.
This is the first time the district is holding such a session, as this is the first year for the school performance profile, said Jason Conway, the district's assistant superintendent.
He said the district's profile will soon be posted on its website at www.doversd.org and on its Facebook page.
The scores: The state gave each school building in the state a rating between 0 and 100 based on test scores and other factors, like attendance and graduation rates. Scores above 70 were considered satisfactory.
Dover Area Intermediate School received a 71.4. All of the elementaries schools scored 78 or above, with a top score of 81.9 at Leib Elementary.During its information event, the district will have sessions for the elementary, middle and high school levels, where attendees learn more about the academic work, successes and needs of students, Conway said.
He said attendees also can make suggestions for how to improve students educational experience at their schools.
There will be a question-and-answer period.
The event is scheduled to end at 8:30 p.m., Conway said.
