Police say the driver of a 2011 Subaru Forester crashed his vehicle into a Hanover living room around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, causing minor injuries to a woman inside the apartment.

Hanover Police Chief Dwayne Smith said in a release the vehicle was driven by Walter Evans, a 90-year-old man of Brookeville, Md.

Tenant Jane Olsen, 54, was asleep on her sofa in the apartment at 17 Center Square when the vehicle crashed into the building.

Olsen suffered minor injuries during the incident when the vehicle knocked her off the sofa. Olsen refused emergency treatment but complained of minor pains, police said.

Evans was transported to Hanover Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Evans' 79-year-old passenger was uninjured.

The building owner, Thomas Hufnagle, has a structural engineer inspecting the building for damage, which appears to be limited to the outside wall of the apartment.

The accident occurred as Evans was entering a parking lot in front of the apartment building. Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 717-637-5575.
