New Freedom Heritage Inc. has announced that it received a $5,000 grant to use for its park project. The grant, from the York County Community Foundation, will be used to complete the second phase of the Freedom Green Community Park project adjacent to North Main Street and the York County Heritage Rail Trail, according to a news release from Cathie Itzoe, a heritage member.

The phase includes additions of engraved brick patio, walkway, landscaping, benches, lighting, bike rack and a park sign.

Construction for the second phase is expected to begin in late winter or early spring of 2014, according to Itzoe.
