A York City woman wanted on sex assault charges was arrested by U.S. Marshals Tuesday in Lancaster.

Darlene Valdes Lugo, 31, no address provided, was arrested without incident in the 500 block of Howard Avenue and was turned over to authorities in York County, according to a news release from the marshals service.

She is charged with two counts each of rape of a child, incest, and four counts of corruption of minors, the release says.

Lugo remained in York County Prison Tuesday night on $25,000 bail, according to court records.

In August, York City Police began investigating allegations that Lugo committed sexual offenses against minors and a warrant for her arrest was issued in December, the release says.

City police turned to the U.S. Marshals in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Monday to help track down Lugo, and fugitive task force members quickly developed leads that she fled to Lancaster, the release says.

Marshals worked jointly in the investigation with officers from York City Police, York County Sheriff's Office, state police and Lancaster City Police.
