A Seven Valleys woman claimed top prize in a Pennsylvania Farm Show fudge contest that included her mother.

Elizabeth Pokrivka, 28, won the first-place ribbon and $125 at Mrs. Gibbles Old Fashioned Fudge Contest held Wednesday at the 98th Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

Mom is second: Her mother, Shelley Pokrivka, also of Seven Valleys, came in second place, winning $50. Third place went to Belinda Myers of Dallastown, according to a Farm Show news release.

The Pokrivkas could not be reached for comment.

Elizabeth Pokrivka was among 29 people who submitted their tasty entries for the fudge contest. Judges looked for smoothness, flavor, texture, appearance and creativity, according to the Farm Show.

Winning recipe: Elizabeth Pokrivka entered her Spumoni Fudge which had three layers of chocolate, cherry and pistachio.

Her fudge had a "clever and tasty charm" with brown, red and green colored layers that looked like a scoop of Spumoni ice cream, the Farm Show said.

The winning fudge recipe included semi-sweet chocolate chips, golden raisins, marshmallow crème, vanilla chips, maraschino cherries, and chopped pistachios.

When the top contest winners were announced, Shelley Pokrivka was not present to collect the second-place prize. Elizabeth Pokrivka received it on her mother's behalf, the Farm Show said.

And just after that, Elizabeth Pokrivka learned she was the top winner.
