West Manheim Township Police are asking for the public's help to determine who robbed and assaulted a couple in West Manheim Township Thursday night.
About 9:40 p.m., a 24-year-old Hanover woman and her 29-year-old boyfriend, from Taneytown, Md., were passengers in a vehicle that was in the area of Frogtown and Fuhrman Mill roads.
There were three other people in the car as well -- a woman with whom the couple is acquainted and two men they do not know, police said.
One of the men punched the male victim in the head, brandished a knife and demanded money from the couple, leading to a struggle inside and then outside the vehicle, according to police.
After the man handed over cash, the vehicle fled, police said, leaving the couple behind.
The male victim suffered cuts on his head and hands and was treated at Hanover Hospital, police said. His girlfriend suffered a minor injury when her hand was struck by the vehicle as it fled, according to police, who said she did not require medical treatment.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call West Manheim Township Police Chief Tim Hippensteel at (717) 632-7059, ext. 101. Callers may remain anonymous.
