A Fairview Township woman is free on bail, accused of trying to stab her husband as the two argued in their home, police said.

Debra Groff, 55, of the 600 block of Salem Road, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She was released after posting $12,500 bail, police said.

Fairview Township Police said officers were called to the Groff home shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, where they found Groff's husband suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Groff and her husband had been in a lengthy argument and at one point she went to their kitchen and grabbed a knife, police said. She then walked to a bedroom and tried to stab her husband in the chest, police allege.

Groff later told officers she was unable to stab her husband because he took the knife from her, according to police.

The husband, whose name was not released, declined to be taken to the hospital, police said.

Groff could not be reached for comment. It is unclear whether she has retained an attorney.
