York County prosecutors have dropped charges against an Adams County man who had been accused of robbing an alleged bank robber in a Hanover motel room last month.

Charges of robbery, conspiracy, simple assault, theft and receiving stolen property against Jeffrey Jerome Dixon Jr. were withdrawn Tuesday, according to court records.

Kyle King, spokesman for the York County District Attorney's Office, said prosecutors did not have enough evidence against Dixon to proceed with the case against him.

Defense attorney Dave Mueller said Dixon has maintained all along that he did not commit a crime.

"We're very happy that the district attorney's office came to the conclusion they did," Mueller said.

Dixon, 26, of New Oxford, had been accused of being one of three people involved in the robbery of Ryan Palmer, who had been staying in a room at the Clearview Motor Inn in the 900 block of Carlisle Street on Jan. 8.

Palmer, 23, of Littlestown, had been staying at the motel and was wanted by Littlestown Police for allegedly robbing a bank there on Jan. 7, Hanover Police have said.

When Palmer was arrested the night of Jan. 8, he told them he had been assaulted and robbed of the money he stole from the bank, plus cigarettes, police said.

Anyone with information about the attack or the identities of the three attackers is asked to call the York County 911 Center's non-emergency Hanover-area line at (717) 637-5575.
