Officers arrested 24 people on 58 outstanding summary warrants Thursday during a warrant sweep, York City Police said.

Participating were York City nuisance-abatement officers, city patrol officers and state constables, said nuisance-abatement Officer William Wentz.

Those arrested were taken to the office of District Judge Linda Williams, who collected $9,831 in outstanding fines and costs on the warrants, he said.

Two people were taken to York County Prison for failing to pay their fines or post collateral.

Their alleged offenses range from parking and traffic tickets to disorderly conduct to truancy issues.

More sweeps are being planned, Wentz said.

•Dora Soto, 68, of 136 S. Beaver St.

•John Summerford, 65, of 32 W. King St.

•Anthony Lopez, 21, of 502 Smith St.


•Brittney Jones, 27, of 602 W. Philadelphia St.

•Lucas Wise, 24, of 139 N. Newberry St.

•Alexander Velazquez, 43, of 770 W. Market St., who was arraigned on charges of arson, risking a catastrophe and reckless endangerment. Velazquez was committed to York County Prison on $40,000 bail.
