A Fairview Township man allegedly stole two handguns in Cumberland County and traded them for heroin, according to police.
West Shore Regional Police charged 22-year-old Matthew Daniel Churchey, of the 600 block of Churchey Lane, on Wednesday with two counts of theft and a single count each of criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.
He remains in Cumberland County Prison on $50,000 bail, police said.
Police say Churchey broke into a vehicle parked in Lemoyne and stole the two semi-automatic handguns. He later returned to the vehicle and damaged it, police said.
Churchey admitted to officers to stealing the guns and further told officers that he traded them to feed his heroin addiction, police say.
