A state police bomb squad was called to a Dillsburg bank Wednesday for a suspicious item that turned out not to be a bomb.

Carroll Township Police were called to PNC Bank, 403 N. Baltimore St., about 1:15 p.m. after someone found a can with tape on it in the lobby area of the bank, police said.

Officers evacuated employees and customers and called in the bomb squad.

Police dogs and their handlers who were training at a nearby center in Cumberland County were also called in to assist. The dogs and handlers did a search of the parking lot and the bank but did not find any explosive devices, police said.

Bomb squad technicians examined the can and determined it was not an explosive device, police said.
