A plan to shift traffic patterns at the Interstate 83/Route 581 split in Cumberland County has been delayed because of inclement weather.

Crews were to switch northbound and southbound traffic patterns Wednesday night, but the switch has been delayed until Thursday night, said Mike Crochunis, spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.

The traffic changes in I-83 include opening a new off-ramp (Exit 41B) to Lowther Street in Lemoyne and closing the current Exit 41B, PennDOT said.

The work is part of an ongoing $22.1 million project to improve the interchange.
