A deceased Hanover man found in northern Carroll County Friday morning was murdered, according to a news release from Maryland State Police.

The victim, 50-year-old Prakash Rampatsingh, died from a gunshot wound and was found in a rural area near the 3200 block of Falls Road in Hampstead, Md., the release states.

Although he often commuted on Falls Road to and from Baltimore, police did not find a vehicle belonging to him at the scene, the release says. No weapons were found in the area, either, police said.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and other officials continue to investigate.

The release says that police are still looking for more information about the murder, and Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that can be provided anonymously by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP.
