Students will be able to receive free backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming year during two free giveaways in Hanover and Shrewsbury.

More than 100,000 backpacks, donated by The Cellular Connection stores, will be given away across the nation in certain store locations.

Families are invited to visit participating stores from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 to pick up a backpack filled with pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, glue and more. The backpacks will be given away while supplies last.

The Cellular Connection stores at 189 Eisenhower Dr. in Hanover and at 582 Shrewsbury Common Ave. in Shrewsbury will be participating in the giveaway, according to a release. Each location will have between 75 and 300 free backpacks for families to pick up.

All leftover backpacks will be donated to local schools.

The program is part of the School Rocks Backpack Giveaway, which has donated backpacks in previous years.
