A York City man told police he was simply walking along North Pine Street about 7 p.m. Saturday when he was shot in the leg.

Ramon Severino, 18, of West Princess Street, suffered a gunshot wound to the lower left leg, city police Capt. Tim Utley said. The bullet then traveled upward and lodged in the victim's knee, Utley said.

Severino was in satisfactory condition Monday in York Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.

City officers went to the hospital shortly before 8 p.m. after being alerted a shooting victim had arrived there, police said.

Severino told officers he was on his way to see a friend and was walking in the first block of North Pine Street, minding his own business, when he heard two gunshots, Utley said.

He was struck by one bullet and told officers he didn't see anyone in the area either before or after the shots were fired, according to the captain.

Severino made his way to Philadelphia Street and called his aunt and cousin, who picked him up and drove him to the hospital, Utley said.

Officers went to the block where Severino reported being shot, but could find no physical evidence of a shooting, the captain said.
