A York City man was beaten and might have had a gun pointed at his neck as he was being robbed by a group of men late Friday night, police said.

David Swords, 21, of West North Street, told police he went to the intersection of West North and North Penn streets, looking for his girlfriend's father's car, York City Police said.

He was approached by three or four men who punched him repeatedly in the face and threatened to kill him if he made any noise or called the police, according to city police Capt. Tim Utley.

Swords told officers he felt what he believed to be a gun placed against his neck when the threats were made, Utley said.

The robbers stole his cell phone, police said.

Swords, who suffered facial bruising, told police he didn't recognize anyone in the group.
