A Dover Township man accused of trying to have sex with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl had placed an ad on Craigslist's casual encounters section asking, "do you need an allowance?" according to charging documents.

Malcolm N. Winland, 61, of 3086B Staunton Ave., remains in Dauphin County Prison on $150,000 bail, charged with attempted statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communications facility, such as a computer or cellphone.

Charging documents state that a special agent with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office's Crimes Against Children unit on June 16 spotted Winland's personal ad and replied to it in the persona of a 14-year-old girl.

Photo sent: Winland, known as "Mac," began chatting with the "girl" through email and text messages, and on June 18 sent "her" a photo of himself wearing white underwear, documents state.

In late July, Winland texted that he was looking forward to meeting the girl, and that "maybe (they) could get a motel room," according to documents.

The purported girl claimed to be nervous and unsure what was going to happen, at which point Winland responded that they would be having sex, authorities allege.

Winland was arrested Tuesday after going to a prearranged meeting location in Harrisburg, documents state.

Confession alleged: He admitted putting the ad on Craigslist, and "admitted to arranging to meet the minor for the purposes of having sex with her and buying her a swimsuit," charging documents allege.

Swatara Township Police assisted in the investigation, according to the attorney general's office.
