Police are investigating an alleged distraction burglary in Shrewsbury last week, Southern Regional Police announced.

An elderly woman told police a woman claiming to work for a tree trimming business called Tri-State Tree Service came to her home on Essex Circle Drive on Friday.

As the woman distracted the homeowner, a man entered the home and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The homeowner spotted him leaving through the garage. The man and woman were last seen leaving the area in a white SUV, police said.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of State, there are no businesses in York County called Tri-State Tree Service.

Police are reminding residents that people soliciting business should have identification stating their names and the name of the business they work for.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at (717) 235-3944, or through srpd.us.
