York has announced a number of traffic advisories related to Labor Day activities, as follows.

* York will host the Quarterback Club of York's 5K Run on Monday. The race will begin at Santander Bank Stadium at 8:15 a.m., begin in the first block of East North Street and north on George Street to Hamilton. It will then head south on Beaver Street to Penn Park. Runners will then travel around the park and return north on Beaver Street, east on North Street to Queen Street where they will enter Santander Bank Stadium, run through the plaza and back out onto Arch Street. The runners will re-enter the stadium via the centerfield gate.

Intersections along the race route will be closed temporarily as the race passes by. Motorists should expect delays, and use alternate routes when possible..

* York will also be hosting The York Adams County Central Labor Council's Labor Day Parade. The parade will begin at Smalls Athletic Field at 10 a.m., immediately following the 5K race. The parade will travel south on George Street to Philadelphia Street, then to Roosevelt Avenue, to Pennsylvania Avenue and then towards Parkway Boulevard, where it will end at Kiwanis Lake.

Intersections along the parade route will be closed temporarily as the parade passes by.

* York is also hosting a festival at Kiwanis Lake, which will include a fireworks show. The festival will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m.


Parking will be restricted on Newberry, between Madison and Parkway, and on Parkway between Newberry and Pennsylvania. Newberry will be closed from Madison to Parkway and Parkway will be closed from Pennsylvania to Smith from 4 to 9 p.m.
