A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for York County until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The watch was issued as a thunderstorm warning expired about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The watch includes all of York County as well as numerous surrounding counties, the weather service says.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect from about 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for York County and the surrounding areas.

The storms, which will roll through the York area around 6 p.m., are capable of producing winds of up to 70 mph, the NWS said.

Hail may accompany the storms.

The NWS suggests that people head indoors to avoid any potential injuries.
