Exercise enthusiasts, and resolution-makers hoping to drop pounds in the new year, will have another place to work out within the next two months.

Anytime Fitness - a 24-hour gym with more than 1900 locations in the United States, Canada and Australia - will open during the next 60 days at the Newberry Pointe Shopping Center in Newberry Township.

The fitness club offers "a convenient and affordable exercise option for the area," said owner Emily Goodling. "We believe our 24-hour, co-ed fitness club will be a great addition to the Newberry Pointe Shopping Center."

Prior to opening the gym, Goodling ran the employee wellness program at Highmark, she said.

Construction is starting immediately on the 3,900-square-foot fitness club, she said.

Once it is completed, gym members can workout any time, day or night, every day of the year, Goodling said. Even if the club isn't staffed, members will be able to enter and work out by using a security-access key.

Anytime Fitness will also offer 24-hour tanning for its members, she said.

For more information or to reserve a membership, call Goodling at 516-1101 or visit www.anytimefitness.com.
