A Red Lion man allegedly grabbed a state police trooper by his throat as police investigated a report of a loud party in Fawn Township early Thursday morning.

The trooper suffered minor injuries, and a second trooper also suffered minor injuries in an ensuing scuffle as they arrested Dave Alan Frey, 21, according to state police.

Frey is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment and one count each of institutional vandalism, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. His bail was set at $60,000 when he was arraigned, according to a central booking official.

Troopers were attempting to make contact with people inside a home in the 700 block of Ridge Road about 1:22 a.m. when Frey allegedly reached through a partially opened door and grabbed a trooper by his throat, police said.

Frey was pulled from the home but resisted as troopers placed him under arrest. He continued to struggle after he was put in the back of a patrol vehicle, damaging the vehicle, police said.

The injured troopers were taken to York Hospital to be evaluated. Frey was uninjured, police said.
