A fire that was contained to a fireplace but caused smoke damage in parts of a vacant West Manchester Township house is under investigation.

Firefighters dispatched to a farmhouse in the 1700 block of Ivy Pump Lane about 5:40 p.m. Sunday found heavy smoke pouring from the home, said West Manchester Township Fire Capt. Aaron Estep.

Though the blaze was contained to the fireplace, all three floors of the home sustained smoke damage, he said.

No one was in the house when firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported, Estep said. Authorities are investigating, he said.

Firefighters from Dover Township and West York assisted.
