The York City Health Bureau has scheduled two clinics this week for city residents to get a free flu shot.

Clinics are scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Albert S. Weyer Health Center, 435 W. Philadelphia St.

The vaccine is free. Appointments are not necessary for the clinics.

The bureau recommends everyone 6 months and older receive the vaccine, especially those at high risk of complications from the flu. High-risk persons include pregnant women, residents of long-term care facilities, people older than 65 and people who have chronic medical conditions, especially ones that compromise the immune system.

The clinics are designed to address the increased concern over the severity of the flu season, a press release from the city indicates.
