A wayward pooch was pulled from a ledge near the Yellow Breeches creek in Fairview Township about noon Tuesday.

The dog, a Boston terrier, somehow went down on the ledge near the creek along Meadowbrook Road and couldn't climb up an embankment.

"The dog was not in the water," said township fire Chief Bill Carlisle.

Police and firefighters aided the dog's owner in getting the dog over the embankment. The effort took but a matter of minutes.

When Deputy Fire Chief Eric Hawkins arrived at the scene the dog and the owner were over the embankment as temperatures dropped below the freezing point, Hawking said.

"I just think he (the dog owner) had trouble getting to it," he said.
