A new restaurant is set to open in Queensgate Towne Center this spring, adding to a growing list of healthy eateries in the York Township shopping plaza.

What is now 1,600 square feet of empty space next to Pet Valu and Chipotle will soon be the address of a new Pita Pit.

The Idaho-based chain is in the middle of the permitting process and doesn't have a set opening date, but the restaurant will likely open when the warmer weather hits, according to David Nicholson, director of leasing for LMS Commercial Real Estate.

It will be the first Pita Pit in York County and the seventh in Pennsylvania.

The restaurant serves "light and tasty Lebanese-style pitas" in a "healthy, fresh and fast" way, according to the company website.

With the addition of Pita Pit, the 300,000 square feet of retail space in Queensgate is now fully leased, Nicholson said.
