Residents of Pine Road in Dover Township will likely be without gas and water after a gas line and a water main were broken Monday afternoon.

Fire crews were dispatched to Pine Road about 3:20 p.m. for a gas line that was cut by a contractor, said Brian Widmayer, township deputy fire chief.

About 15 people were temporarily evacuated from seven homes as precaution, Widmayer said.

Just before 5 p.m., crews were again dispatched for a water main break. Gas and water have been shut off to homes in the area and Pine Road is closed.

A crew from Columbia Gas is working to fix the broken gas line and a township crew is working to fix the water main, Widmayer said.

Gas and water service to the area are expected to be off until Tuesday morning, he said.

The York-Adams Chapter of the American Red Cross had been dispatched to the area.
