A man fatally shot outside a York City strip club early Sunday morning survived being stabbed a month ago.

Trevahn Kent, 21, of the 600 block of Vander Avenue, was shot outside Temptations bar, 617 E. Market St., about 2:30 a.m., according to York City Police.

Kent and a friend walked out of the bar and were seen by a group of people believed to have been on foot, said Lt. Tim Utley, who supervises the city's detective bureau.

"While they were leaving, they were fired on by the group of unknown subjects," Utley said.

It appears only one bullet was fired, he said.

"Both of them ran as the shot was being fired," Utley said.

Kent made it to the rear of 601 E. Market St. before collapsing, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy Monday at Allentown's Lehigh Valley Hospital determined Kent died of a gunshot wound to his arm and chest, according to the county coroner's office, which has ruled the death a homicide.

The friend escaped injury. His name was not released.

Connected? Utley said detectives haven't yet determined whether Kent's stabbing is related to his homicide.

"We're investigating possible connections," he said.

Police were notified Jan. 13 by Memorial Hospital staff that Kent had shown up in the emergency room with a stab wound, according to police.

Kent told a responding officer he'd been shooting pool at a bar in the 400 block of East Market Street about 2:30 a.m. when he got into a fight with several other bar patrons.

Attacked: Kent said he was struck in the head with a bottle and stabbed in the left side with a chunk of broken glass, police said at the time.

But the owner of that bar contacted police to say Kent hadn't been there at the time he'd claimed, and provided investigators with surveillance video from the bar to prove it, police confirmed.

"At the time (of that report), we were investigating inconsistencies in Kent's story," Utley confirmed.
