The Eastern York girls' basketball team is headed to the state playoffs.

The No. 8 seed Golden Knights (18-8) punched their PIAA ticket on Tuesday night with a 47-35 victory over No. 13 seed Big Spring (16-10) in a District 3-AAA consolation semifinal at Cumberland Valley.

Eastern will now take on No. 3 seed Lancaster Catholic (26-1) in the District 3-AAA fifth-place game on Thursday night at a site and time to be determined. Lancaster Catholic beat No. 7 seed Berks Catholic (20-7) in Tuesday's other District 3-AAA consolation semifinal, 59-40.

Lancaster Catholic beat Eastern during a regular-season game on Feb. 2, 71-59. Both Eastern and Lancaster Catholic will advance to the state playoffs regardless of Thursday's outcome, which will be used for state seeding purposes.

On Tuesday, Eastern started slowly, trailing 12-7 after one period. The Knights used a 7-2 second-quarter edge to tie the game at halftime, 14-14. Eastern's offense then erupted in the second half for 33 points, including a 17-8 third-quarter advantage, to take control of the game.

Eastern received double-digit scoring from Elizabeth Myers (11 points), Morgan Thomas (11) and Krissy Pennell (10).
