Local and state law enforcement officers will take part in enhanced DUI enforcement this week leading up and including St. Patrick's Day night.

According to the Center for Traffic Safety, sobriety checkpoints will be set up in Adams and York counties, and roving DUI patrols will be conducted in York and Lancaster counties.

Because St. Patrick's Day falls on a Sunday this year, Wayne Harper, director of the traffic safety center, said he anticipates revelers will be out during the days preceding the holiday.

The enforcement efforts are funded with federal money provided by the state Department of Transportation.
