Columbia Gas on Tuesday announced a $3.25 million project to improve its existing pipeline in York and Windsor townships.
The project began this week and is expected to run through July.
Roads involved include Cape Horn Road (Route 24), East Prospect Road (Route 124) and Windsor Road, with additional work on surrounding streets.
Construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on township roads and between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. on state roads, with possible lane closures and detours during working hours.
The work will require temporary interruption of natural gas service for individual customers while their service is connected to the new gas main. The company will contract customers prior to shutting off service and to schedule service restoration.
The company also is reminding customers that all Columbia Gas employees and contractors carry identification cards bearing their name, photograph and identification number.
