Motorists in York City should expect delays as the state Department of Transportation begins a project on South Queen Street on Monday.

There will be block-by-block closures on South Queen between East Market Street and East Boundary Avenue on Monday and Tuesday for road base work, said Mike Martin, PennDOT's manager of maintenance in York County.

"Hopefully we'll be out of there quicker," he said.

Parking will also be restricted on South Queen Street in the affected area, according to a news release from York City.

Motorists are advised to use South Duke and South Pine streets as alternative routes, the release says.
