Starting Friday morning, part of Route 516, known locally as Jefferson Road, just outside Spring Grove in North Codorus Township will be closed for an ongoing realignment project.

The closure is part of project in which Lehman Road is being realigned with Route 116, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Jefferson Road will be closed at its intersection with Route 116 and is slated to reopen Friday, May 10, PennDOT said.

The closure is needed so that crews can rebuild and improve the road connection between Route 516 and Route 116.

Motorists are being detoured around the closure by way of Colonial Valley and Lischey's Church roads.

Work on the $1.5 million project started in August and is expected to be complete in late June. Once the project is complete, a traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Lehman Road and routes 116 and 516.

Kinsley Construction, Inc. was contracted by PennDOT to do the project.
