What was thought to be an attempted child luring is now being called a prank by the suspects.

On Friday afternoon, Carroll Township Police received the report, said to be at the 400 block of Woodland Drive in Dillsburg. The report said three teenage boys, 16-17 years old, approached a group of five girls, ages 7 to 10, who were walking home from the bus stop.

The suspects offered the girls a ride, then got out of the tan car and tried to lure them in with candy, police said. The girls began to yell and the suspects drove off. The children ran home and told their parents, who contacted police.

Two juvenile suspects later told officers that it was a prank. Police continue to investigate.
