York City's nuisance-abatement division, along with patrol officers, arrested 37 people and served 99 warrants during a warrant sweep on Saturday.

All 37 were taken before District Judge Linda Williams to pay their outstanding fines and court costs, according to Nuisance Abatement Officer William Wentz.

Williams' office collected $14,344, he said.

Five people were taken to York County Prison when they were unable to pay on outstanding fines and also unable to post collateral, according to Wentz.

The warrants were issued for people who had failed to pay their fines and court costs for offenses including parking tickets, traffic violations, truancy, disorderly conduct and other summary violations, he said.

More warrant sweeps are planned, Wentz said.
