Issak Wolfe, a transgender Red Lion Area High School senior, will speak at a Foundation for Hope event on Saturday.
Wolfe, 18, has been at the center of an argument with the district, as he wants the district to read his male name at graduation, while the district said it will only read his legal name, which is female. Wolfe also said the high school principal put Wolfe on the prom queen ballot under his female name, Sierra Stambaugh, rather than prom king as Issak Wolfe as Wolfe was led to believe.
Wolfe has been asked to be the featured speaker at The Foundation for Hope's "HopeSummit: A Symposium on Bullying" at the Midtown Scholar in Harrisburg on May 11. Wolfe will be speaking about his experiences at Red Lion, according to a release.
The Midtown Scholar bookstore is at 1302 N. 3rd St. The free symposium starts at 12 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. with speakers and film screenings. The Foundation for Hope is a advocacy group raising awareness about bullying and suicide.
