West York resident Jon Scallion can apparently take the heat and is staying in the kitchen.

The 27-year-old chef survived another week on "Hell's Kitchen" and has landed among the top four contestants.

At 9 p.m. Thursday, Scallion will face off against three other chefs: Mary Poehnelt, Belchertown, Mass.; Cyndi Stanimirov, Queens, N.Y.; and Ja'Nel Witt, Houston.

In its 11th season, the Fox hit is a competitive cooking show in which master chef Gordon Ramsay critiques skills - or lack thereof - with a sharp tongue.

"You don't want to be the guy he (says something negative to). He's really passionate about what he does," Scallion said in a previous interview.

Next week the four finalists will rely on their senses of sight, taste and smell to identify the ingredients in Ramsay's dish and re-create it.

The chef whose dish comes the closest to Ramsay's will earn a shopping spree, and two of the four chefs will be eliminated.

Working with Ramsay can admittedly make a young chef a little nervous, but it's a rewarding experience, Scallion said.

"No matter what he says - even if he screams at you and makes you feel two inches tall - it will make you a better chef," he said.

Scallion is vying for the grand prize - a head chef position at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The winner of that prize will be announced during the two-hour season finale, which airs at 8 p.
