A Hanover man allegedly aimed a loaded handgun at another man and used it to hit him during an assault early Saturday.

Anthony Judah Haas, 22, of the 635 E. Middle St. is charged with attempted simple assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment, according to his charging documents. He is free on $10,000 bail.

The victim told police that Haas and another person jumped him in the 600 block of East Middle Street about 2 a.m., documents state. During the altercation, Haas went into his nearby house and returned with a handgun, documents state.

Haas allegedly used the laser pointer mounted to the loaded gun to aim at the man multiple times. Haas also used the gun to hit the man's face and head about seven times, documents state.

Haas admitted to police that he did get into a fight but couldn't recall how it started, documents state.

Police seized the gun, which had dried blood on it, documents state.

Haas was arrested and taken to central booking for arraignment. Police did not say if the victim required medical treatment.
