A York City man had his young grandson with him in an SUV when he was arrested for alleged drunk driving Saturday night in the city. Hector Luis Jimenez, 51, of the 200 block of Springdale Road is charged with DUI and child endangerment. He was also cited for driving without his headlights on at night and DUI while on a suspended license, according to court documents.

Jimenez remains in York County Prison on $5,000 bail and on a probation violation, meaning that even if he were to post bail, he wouldn't be released until he answers to the alleged violation, according to a prison spokesman.

Traffic stop: City police officers were conducting a roving DUI patrol when they spotted the blue Nissan Armada Jimenez was allegedly driving without its headlights on in the 200 block of East Princess Street just before 11:30 p.m. and pulled it over, according to Jimenez's charging documents.

When an officer approached the SUV, he found Jimenez "slouched back in his seat and his eyes were glossy and bloodshot," documents state.

The officer also found Jimenez's 5-year-old grandson buckled into the backseat, documents state.

When the officer asked Jimenez if he was intoxicated, Jimenez told the officer, "yes," documents state.

The officer also discovered that Jimenez's license was suspended for a previous DUI. Jimenez was arrested and taken to central booking, where he was processed and arraigned, documents state.

Officers took the young child to his home.

Court records did not list an attorney for Jimenez.
