The Jewish Community Center will hold Sukkot celebration activities in September.

The Jewish holiday Sukkot - observed sundown Wednesday, Sept. 18 to sundown Wednesday, Sept. 25 - is a celebration of the fall harvest and a reminder of the fragile huts, called sukkuh, the Jews used while being led by Moses through the desert from Egypt to the promised land of Canaan.

The JCC will hold a Sukkot celebration from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at Brown's Orchard in Loganville. Participants will first meet at Brown's Farm Market, at 8892 Susquehanna Trail South.

The celebration features hayrides and art, as well as apple picking at a price per pound.

The cost is $3. Registration begins at 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the Jewish Community Center, 2000 Hollywood Drive in Spring Garden Township. Registration deadline is Sunday, Sept. 8.

A Sukkot Family Cooking Class will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the JCC. Registration is $30 per person. Participants must be at least 6 years old. Parents do not have to pay if they are only helping their children cook. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The B'nai B'rith Youth Organization will host a community Sukkot celebration from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the JCC.
