The York Suburban School District's Dollars for Scholars program is joining with the York Suburban Wellness Committee to hold a wellness day at the high school on Saturday, Sept. 7.

They also plan to make a banner for the football field with the new wellness committee's slogan, "Be YS Well."

The Sept. 7 event is designed to promote healthy lifestyles and will start at 8:30 a.m. with warm-up activities.

A 5K run that requires a registration fee is set for 9 a.m. Those who don't participate in the 5K run can join in the 1-mile fun run at 9:15.

All of the other events will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Those events include zumba, yoga, an obstacle course, a bounce house, musical chairs, healthy food provided by Whitsons, and sports clinics for which participants can sign up.

T-shirts and registration for the 5K run can be purchased at a reduced rate through Aug. 24. Registration and T-shirts can be purchased the day of the event starting at 7:45 a.m., though there are a limited number of T-shirts available.

Participants can sign in or register outside of the Education Center. The event is designed for the entire family, not just students.
