A Penn Township man has been charged with using a baseball bat to beat another man in the township on Saturday.

Christian Jonathan Ashley Jackson, 28, of the 700 block of Baltimore Street, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment, according to his charging documents.

He remained in York County Prison on $250,000 bail.

Penn Township Police were dispatched to 736 Baltimore Street about 2:50 a.m. for a reported fight between Jackson and Michael Woodward, according to the documents.

A responding officer found the unresponsive Woodward suffering from severe head injuries and lying inside an apartment complex, documents state.

Witnesses told police that Jackson used a baseball bat, or a similar object, to hit Woodward several times, documents state.

Woodward was placed on life support at York Hospital on Saturday, police said. An update on his condition was not available Sunday.
