Last year, Best Buy was one of the few retailers that kept Black Friday on Friday.

But this year the store will open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, following suit with many other retailers that have announced earlier start times.

On Thursday, Old Navy announced it will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and will reopen at 7 p.m. that evening and stay open through Black Friday.

Earlier this week, Kmart announced it will open at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving Day and remain open until 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

Toys R Us announced Tuesday that it will open at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Several others have announced start times at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, including Bon-Ton, J.C. Penney, Kohl's, Macy's and Sears.

A holiday shopping season that once began at about 5 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving has slowly crept into the traditional turkey dinner.

Several years ago, some stores started offering 12 a.m. deals, and then a few years ago Walmart offered doorbusters at 10 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, and two years ago Toys R Us opened at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Last year, many retailers opened at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, including Kmart, Sears, Target and Walmart.

This year, Toys R Us will open three hours earlier than in 2012, and analysts predict other retailers to follow the trend.

Target and Walmart have not announced their Black Friday hours.
