Quaker Steak & Lube is opening its first location in York County.

The Sharon, Pa.-based restaurant chain, known for its wings and dozens of sauce recipes, is moving to the building recently vacated by TGI Friday's.

Quaker Steak & Lube this week secured a building permit for 1411 Kenneth Road in West Manchester Township, said Monica Love, township zoning officer.

In its application, the company indicated it will make renovations to change the look of the building and will add a Wing-Go Window - a feature that allows customers to call in orders and drive to the window where they can pick up the order.

The company did not include an opening date in its application, Love said.

A company spokeswoman did not return correspondence seeking information about an opening date.

The building permit is valid for one year, Love said.

Quaker Steak & Lube has more than 60 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The closest location to York is one that will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 165 Gateway Drive in Mechanicsburg, according to a company website.

In addition to wings, the restaurant chain sells appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, steak, seafood, ribs, rice bowls, desserts, kids meals and more.

TGI Friday's, which operated the York location since 1990, closed Monday for business reasons, according to a company spokesman.
