A man from Jackson Township was stabbed at about 2:30 Saturday morning when he confronted a man loitering in a parking lot on the 200 block of Locust Street in Hanover, according to a release from the Hanover Borough Police department.

The victim, 26, saw a man standing next to a vehicle that belonged to a relative of his girlfriend, so he approached the man and asked him what he was doing, the release said. The man stabbed the victim in the upper thigh and fled, running south down the alley between Locust and Baer Avenue, it said.

The girlfriend's relative's car had a broken window, so police speculated in the release that the victim may have interrupted the suspect while the suspect was stealing from the car.

The police are searching for the suspect, who is described as a five-foot-seven-inch white male in his 20s with "scruffy facial hair," according to the release. They ask that anyone with information please come forward.
