The Northeastern school board held a special meeting Tuesday to approve a new principal for the Spring Forge Intermediate School.

The board voted 6-0 to approve Beth Wolff as the school's new leader, with a starting salary of $98,663, said Northeastern superintendent Shawn Minnich.

Wolff is currently the principal at Hillside Elementary School in the West Shore School District. A start date for Wolff at Spring Forge has not been decided, Minnich said.

Wolff's leadership experiences made her an ideal person for the job, Minnich said, coupled with her philosophy of collaboration and high expectations for herself and her staff.

"She understands what good teaching looks like in the classroom," Minnich said.

Spring Forge includes students in grades 4-6.
