A Dover man was flown to a hospital Tuesday after a diving accident in Ocean City, Md.

Kiefer Kuhn, 23, dove head first from a pontoon boat into shallow water in the Isle of Wight Bay, said Candy Thomson, spokeswoman for Maryland Natural Resources Police.

He and several other people had left Seacrets, a popular Ocean City bar, and were en route to return the rented boat when Kuhn dove into the water, Thomson said.

Having noticed Kuhn wasn't moving, other boaters pulled him from the water.

Emergency responders, suspecting a spinal injury, arranged for a helicopter to take Kuhn to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Thomson said.

Hospital personnel declined to release information on Kuhn's condition Wednesday.
