York College head coach Jen Muston has been named the International Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Metro-Region Coach of the Year.

The announcement was made Monday.

Muston led the 2012 York College team to a record-setting season. In just the seventh season of varsity competition, the Spartans went 14-5 and earned the school's first-ever women's lacrosse NCAA Division III Tournament berth. The 14 wins, coupled with a Capital Athletic Conference championship game appearance, helped Muston earn her second straight CAC Coach of the Year award.

In 2011, York went 13-4 and earned a first-ever berth in the CAC semifinals. Since Muston's arrival before the 2008 season, York has posted a 55-31 mark including 10-plus wins in four of her five seasons. For her career, Muston has coached 15 of York's 18 All-CAC honorees, including a program-best seven selections this past spring.

"I am very honored to receive this award but is really a team award," Muston said in a news release. "I am blessed to have a great group of assistant coaches and my players are fantastic. This award reflects the endless hours of work and dedication that all members of our program put in throughout the course of the season. It was a great year and I am already looking forward to what we can accomplish this spring."

Muston welcomes back all but one starter from last year's team, including IWLCA All-American Kim Wayson and IWLCA All-Metro Region selections Wayson, Leah Shultz, Katie Vautier and Erica Mulford.
