A Dover Township bridge closed since March reopened to traffic on Thursday.

The South Salem Church Road Bridge, which was structurally deficient, closed on March 6, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The open steel grid bridge, built in 1938, over the Little Conewago Creek was replaced with a concrete bridge, PennDOT said.

The $1.1 million project was awarded to Kinsley Construction Inc. The contract included demolition of the existing bridge, construction of the new concrete bridge, drainage work, roadway approach construction, guiderail installation and new traffic lines.
